| In order to register
to vote you must be 18 years old or upwards
on or before election day. You must also
be a United States Citizen. AND, you must
be registered to vote.
In order to vote in the upcoming election,
you must be registered to vote in the county
you reside in.
To register:
You must complete a voter registration card
and return it to the County Auditor prior
to the voter registration deadline. The
registration deadline is 15 days prior to
any election.
To obtain a voter registration
card you may do one of the following;
If you have access to the internet you
may go to the South Dakota Secretary of
State web site and either download
a form, complete the form and send
to the County Auditor or you may complete
the form on-line, print it, sign it
and send to the County Auditor; or
You may visit you local county auditor
to complete a card in the office; or
You may also get a card at your local;
finance office, driver’s license office,
TANF etc.
If you register to vote through a voter
drive or other source, contact the auditor’s
office to make sure they have received and
were able to read all information correctly
on the card to insure you are registered!
The voter registration card requires that
you provide your driver’s license number,
state of origin OR; the last four (4) digits
of your social security number.
If you are registering with an out of state
driver’s license number, remember, this
out of state driver’s license will NOT be
considered acceptable ID at the election
polls.
If you can not provide a driver’s license
or the last four digits of your driver’s
license, you MUST go to the auditor’s office
to register, so they may have you complete
the appropriate affidavit prior to registering.
Registration deadline:
The deadline for registration is 15 days
before any election. Your card must be received
by the auditor by this deadline if you are
to vote in the next election.
2010 Primary deadline is May 24
2010 General deadline is October 18
